Anubias hastifolia

Anubias hastifolia (family Araceae) is one of the rarer Anubias species in the aquarium industry. This is because it is of the slower growing of the Anubias and it seems it is not yet produced by tissue culture like the other species. It was also only recently discovered. It is unfortunately harvested from the wild in West Africa fairly heavily for the aquarium trade still. Anubias hastifolia is not as easy as the other species to grow but makes a very worth while addition to any aquarium. Its arrow shaped leaves may divide into a leaf with three distinct lobes in a mature plant and cutting the rhizome can propagate these plants but plants do not like to be disturbed when they have established
